Tiger Balm Gardens

When we first went to Hong Kong in 1988,we visited a weird place called Tiger Balm Gardens,We have been back to H.K. several times but no-one seems to know of it now.We are going to H,K. again this year and I just wondered if anyone knows what became of the gardens?

Tiger Balm Gardens

The Tiger Balm Gardens with it%26#39;s garish statues was on Tai Hang Road and closed about seven years ago.The site was to be redeveloped as I think luxury apartments although a small part of the gardens ( a temple or something I think) were to be preserved and incorporated in the development.

I last went there about four years ago and although it was a construction site with no public access most of the gardens did seem to be still intact and there wasn%26#39;t much sign of any new development.

It was sold in 2000 for 100 Million HKD to a developer, to be turned into luxury flats called ';Legend at Jardine%26#39;s Lookout';. The pagoda and the main mansion will be preserved.
