Harbour Plaza Hotel & area

I%26#39;ve read all the good post%26#39;s about this hotel and, I%26#39;m aware that it%26#39;s a bit further away from the main area%26#39;s to visit on a short stay. Any local experts or others could give some more information would be very useful

Harbour Plaza Hotel %26amp; area

It%26#39;s not just a BIT further away, it%26#39;s VERY far. At least 45 minutes to commute out to Kowloon. I don%26#39;t recommend tourists to stay there unless you are the absolute budget.

Some people find it alright to travel and commute back and forth like that, I think it%26#39;s wasting time. So it depends on your travel style and time restriction.

Just curious, why do you want to choose this location?

Harbour Plaza Hotel %26amp; area

Assuming this is a reference to The Harbour Plaza at Hunghom I%26#39;m not sure why the above post suggests it%26#39;s ';VERY far'; away. TST is no more than a 10 to 15 minute shuttle bus ride, the Star Ferry to Central is just a few minutes walk from the hotel, you can even walk into TST in not much more than 20 minutes. I lived in a Harbour Plaza serviced suite for a number of months and didn%26#39;t find the location inconvenient. It%26#39;s a good hotel with great views over the harbour.

There are a lot of Harbour Hotels around. If you are referring to Harbour Plaza in Hunghom, it really is just about under 15 mins by taxi or shuttle to Tsimshatsui/Nathan road. Didnt need the public bus during our stay there, since their free shuttle can bring us to Tsimshatsui (drop off is at that Starbucks on the corner of Hankow road, The Kowloon Hotel). Otherwise I took the cab most of the time since it was such a short trip (below HK$30 if I remember right) from HMV in Hankow where I usually shop til closing.

I remember mentioning in my review of this hotel that it was such a welcome change to stay at the hotel. Having stayed at hotels in the more crowded Tsimshatsui or in Causeway Bay, I savored my stay at Harbour Plaza and wouldnt mind staying there again. There are some department stores (Jusco), shopping centers (with shops like Esprit, Giordano, Bossini, Fortress, Popular Bookstore, some video stores and other specialty shops) and supermarkets (a rather big Park %26#39;n Shop) all within walking distance (under 5 minutes) from the hotel. Plus a lot of food outlets and specialty restaurants. All these in this commercial district called Whampoa.

Easy to go to Central also via the nearby ferry station. Tried this once also, not as crowded as the kowloon-central ferry too during that time.

The hotel itself is beautiful. Whether you swim or not, make sure to spend some quiet, relaxing time at the rooftop pool area. Also used their health club facilities. Their restaurants were not that bad too!

There are 4 Harbour Plaza hotels - Only Harbour Plaza Resort City is further away, there other 3 hotels have reasonably good and efficient transportation to other parts of the city.

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong, on Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon - in a quieter area but no shortage of taxis

Harbour Plaza Metropolis, also in Hung Hom, Kowloon, near KCR Hung Hom Station - good choice for getting to mainland China

Harbour Plaza North Point, on Hong Kong Island, near MTR Quarry Bay Station - the underground trains can get to many parts of the city in minutes

Harbour Plaza Resort City, in the New Territories - relatively remote

Sorry, I was reading another post about Harbour Plaza Resort City..... that%26#39;s why I replied that way. From your TITLE, I re-read it again... you probably are referring to Harbour Plaza Hong Kong, Tak Fung Street one. I wrote about it in another thread... it%26#39;s a great hotel, in residential area, no MTR, but still convenient.

Thanks to all that have replied...apologies that I did not make it that clear which hotel I was looking into. It is the Harbour Plaza Hong Kong. I%26#39;m torn at the moment between there and on the island at the Lanson Place!!

I%26#39;m staying at the Hotel Plaza, Hunghom at the moment. Its a great hotel and as many others have said just a stones throw from the ferry and a few mins from the centre by taxi or free shuttle.

We literally had 90 minutes to spare this morning and popped over to Hong Kong on the local Star Ferry - magical!

Internet is a bit pricey although the coffee shop along the street has free terminals (and the Shangri La Hotel where I am sitting at the moment having escaped briefly from my meeting appears to have free wireless internet - well its working now!)
