Could anyone advise the best place to have a meal and watch the light show?, the intercontinental looks abit commercial and expensive, anywhere else that would give a great view?

the Star Ferry Harbour cruises do a special symphony of light cruise .It costs $85 hk dollars.You can book at any of the four star ferry piers.The Lobby lounge of the Intercontinental is a fabulous place tosee it because of the wall of glass,so if cost is a factor just have drinks, and go to eat after the light show.Harbourside cafe in the Intercontinenal has great food and also the same view as the lobby lounge,and remember you only live once.Both the Felix at the top of the Peninsula Hotel and Aqua at one Peking rd have fabulous views but are not for people on a budget.Again you might like to go just for cocktails and eat later.

Or, go and stand anywhere on the Avenue of the Stars on TST side and see it all for free.
As suggested, the Lobby Lounge at Intercontinental is really the best choice. For the price of a couple of drinks, you can sit around as long as you want with a great view of the light show. Be sure to go a bit early to ensure you get a good seat.
