Is Canadian money easy to exchange for Chinese or should I take American? Do you recomend exchanging at the hotels?

Do you have a bankcard? Talk to your bank re PIN and time of travel. I assume you are not going to trek in area without any banking facilities.

No I am not going to the rural areas. I kind of gathered that the bank card did not work well there because they used 6 #%26#39;s instead of the 4 that we use. I will be with a tour so don%26#39;t know how convenient it will be to get to a bank, as the days look pretty full. How much of a difference in the exchange rate is there to exchange at the hotels as opposed to a bank?

They use 6 digits? Maybe they do, but my 4-digit-pin works. Anyway, just exchage your CAD anywhere there is an official exchange booth, even at those touristy shops. The rates are pretty uniform anywhere, including hotels. It%26#39;s a communist country, after all.
