can anyone help me to book a virgin atlantic flight from hong kong to sydney or brisbane? I am in uk and to book this flight here would involve paying a premium.

Firstly Virgin Atlantic do not fly into Brisbane, only Sydney.
Is it a one way flight that you are after? If so, a one way flight is quite expensive when compared to a return flight on any of the major airlines. Have a look at the Virgin Atlantic website and go to the top right hand corner where you can go to the Hong Kong site rather than the UK site and see what prices you come up with.
