Hi there, We are staying in HK for 2 nights on our way to Sydney. I am a priority club member and have enough points for 2 nights accomodation. I have been looking at the HK Intercontinental and the Intercontinental Grand Stanford and cant make up my mind which is best. Any suggestions?
I could also look at the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn express as these will use less points but would like the more luxurious Intercontinentals. Are they much better than the Holiday Inns?
We are staying for 2 nights so any advice on what we should do would be most appreciated.
Many thanks

Which Intercontinental?
There is no doubt the best of the chain would be the Intercontinental HK (ex-Regent). The views, the hotel%26#39;s decor, etc are all in better/higher quality than the other properties. I had stayed there when it was still a Regent and the view is really amazing.
Enjoy !
Which Intercontinental?
There is no question that Intercontinental, not the Grand Stanford, should be your choice. Even though they are both classified as 5 star hotels in terms of service level, the Intercontinental is a far superior hotel. It probably has the best harbour view of HK. The Holiday Inns are not in the same league.
agree with sammy, there is only one choice for the IC group hotels in HK and it is the IC HK. The rest are average or lack amenities/facilities and services. IC HK is definitely a luxury hotel but be warned, they do nickel and dime u for every service u may require and unfortunately the new reviews are somewhat disappointing but then again, it does have a rep to maintain (and that is a hard rep. that Regent had set but it was really an experience when I had stayed there). Still, it is the best property of the chain for HK.
PS. u may want to check and make advance reservation for tea if u plan to enjoy it coz even as a guest, u may find it hard to get reservations (this hotel is so popular with non guests due to the view it commands).
I would recommend eating out though, the F%26amp;B outlets in this hotel as well as Peninsula next door are really pricey, I would go out and explore and dine in one of the restaurants around town instead for good food at a better price ! U wont lack choices in Kowloon or HK Island !
Thanks for your comments. I was steering towards the HK IC more than the Grand Stanford and you have made my mind up!
We dont tend to stay in the hotel bars and restaurants much and as we will only be there for 2 nights we want to experience HK as much as we can.
Better get on their website and book!
De Last One is right though. I actually go to the Intercontinental%26#39;s Lobby Cafe once or twice a year in the evening, just for a glass of wine or coffee and take in the view and the atmosphere. Of course, if you have a harbour view room, you might be less inclined to try that.
The Steakhouse is actually excellent, perhaps the best in HK now, but it comes at a price of HK$700-$1000 per head depending on wine consumption so it would make more sense to eat out.
