Travel between Shanghai and Beijing

We have 2 days ( leave from Shanghai on Friday evening and have to return to Shanghai on Sunday evening) Can anyone recommend the best way to travel to Beijing and see some sights? Train, Plane (which airline? if so)

Also, has anyone used the services of Personalchinahelper.com reps?

I think your best bet is to take the overnight train from SH to BJ (leave SH on Friday night, arrive BJ early Saturday morning) - get a soft sleeper. The overnight train is actually lots of fun - I did it 2 years ago and LOVED it. Met friendly people, drank TsingDao, played cards...

Then fly from BJ back to SH to maximize your time in BJ.

Can you walk up to the counter at the airport and buy a cheap, same day, ticket on Spring Air (or any airline) to Beijing? If not, I%26#39;m off on the train.

A soft sleeper from beijing to shanghai will cost you RMB499 for a lower berth and RMB478 for a upper berth. More info, you can get from adventure china trip.

Spring Airlines doesn%26#39;t fly to Beijing, only Tianjin which%26#39;s 1 hour away by train/bus from Beijing.
