a tour or an individual driver for family of 3

We are set to travel over spring break 2 adults and an 8 year active boy. The tour 18 days ( beijing, xian, guilin, yanghtze, shanghai, hong kong) we were going to go on is almost booked at 20 people. I am worried that it is a lot of people and would be awful for the adults and for my 8 year old.

But the price is very good so I thought of going and trying to hire a dab or driver for a few days on our own,

OR -- would a driver, translator be better and just join in on the cruise?

Any advice please let me know since I have to decide asap as the air tickets are booked already.

hi,La3 ,if you make good arrangement in advance ,it %26#39;s also ok for your boy with 20 people.

and if possible, you can hire a private car for your own man at evey stop in China.

Hi la3,do a private tour is comfortable but wiht high budget,with large trip inconvenient but with good price.if you have booked air tickets and hotel by your own,i suggest do the trip by your own too.especially with 8 years old boy,sometimes you have to change a little for you itinerary and a private tour you can see more and do more,

Thanks. if you can give me some tips in xian I might try to see if I can arrange in each city and see if I can join the tour for part of the time. I am worried about the expense but then if we take the tour and still have to leave and do our own thing than that adds to the cost.

if anyone has any guide/car services or good or bad experiences with taking a cab to the major points in Beijing, shanghaii, xian, guilin, or chongging -- please let me know,.
