I will be in Hong Kong for the first time at the end of March. Two hotels that I am considering are the Nikko and Marco Polo Prince. GIven I am on my own, I would like a hotel that is central and has good access to shopping and restuarants at night time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I will be passing through Hong Kong on my way back from Vietnam-any suggestions on what to visit. I will have 3 1/2 days. Thank you

Hello, if you want the hotel where is near central, Marco Polo Prince is better than Nikko as it is located in downtown and you can go to Habour city, victoria habour more easily.
If you think it is expensive, you can choose to stay in service apartment as well for more choices to choose, below website can help

You can spend one day on HK island like Peak, Stanley market, Cental Soho, La Kwai Fong. And one day on TST, Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei

Have you thought about the Salisbury? good hotel, great location. Two minutes walk to the Star ferry and the shops, five minutes to the MTR and plenty of eateries within a few minutes walk..there is also a 7-11 store just behind the hotel for bits and pieces.
