Hello! I%26#39;m taking my grandparents (75 - 80 yrs. but still very active) to China for a 10 - 14 day tour of China. Can anyone recommend a tour company and itinerary. I%26#39;m looking for something that will hit the main highlights (probably in Beijing, Xian, Shanghai %26amp; maybe Guilin). Also, I would like to make sure the hotels are decent (4 star or better) and the program is not too strenuous. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

The only way to really ensure that it will not be too strenous is to organise single city tours for them and restrict activities to maybe half day tours with an evening tour option. That is customise their tour according to their interests. People around this age usually are interested in a cultural experience. Balance between nature, architecture, good food, local customs and shopping. Try http://www.chinesecultureclub.org/ for interesting tours.
Tour company/Itinerary for Elderly People
I%26#39;d highly recommend our tour company--they are US based so I would sya they%26#39;re very reliable and were understanding about not piling on too many events in one day.
Our hotels were surprisingly nice -- all were five-star hotels with the exception of the one in Suzhou, which was nevertheless absolutely breathtaking with its authentic Chinese courtyard, Koi pond and even a zither (spelling?) playing traditional music! Go out the front doors and we were at the edge of a canal...and breakfast was served at a restaurant overlooking the Koi pond. Very meditative.
Our tour guide, Dino, was very funny and good singer and he personally escorted our group from start to finish. We had fewer than 20 people on our tour so he was able to talk to each of us individually about our limitations, health problems, etc. Before hitting the Great Wall, he assured us we could take it as easy or strenuous as we wanted, and so we divided accordingly.
Anyway, there were plenty of other elderly couples traveling with us so I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s worth looking into!
Whoops forgot to tell you the name! It%26#39;s called ';Let%26#39;s Travel China,'; based out of Pasadena, California. Their website is www.letstravelchina.com, they have a selection of different packages depending on how much/how long you have, but the most basic one covers all the cities you mentioned.
