Shanghai Acrobats

We will be on a cruise ship in April while in Shanghai and notice in our excursion book that they are offering to take people to see the Shanghai Acrobats. I understand it is a ';must see.'; My husband and I were going to sign up when we board the ship but happened to notice that the Shanghai Acrobats are performing for one night in our home town of Monterey, CA. The price here is much less than from the ship. I am interested in knowing if the group appearing in Monterey would be originals or are there many of these acrobats that are a touring group. Also, is their performance worth seeing???

Shanghai Acrobats

There%26#39;re at least 2 different performances ongoing in Shanghai, one at the Shanghai Centre Theatre (where Portman Ritz-Carlton is) and the other, better (at least IMHO) one at Shanghai Circus World. I don%26#39;t know which one is performing in Monterey, and I don%26#39;t know which one the cruise tour would be going to -- so I don%26#39;t know which one would be better.

Shanghai Acrobats

When we were in Shanghai we were booked on a Shanghai Acrobatics tour and Bund - it was our first night there so thought that would be good way to orientate ourselves.

Anyway the tour guide phoned up and mentioned the name of the theatre we were going to. It was a theatre I hadn%26#39;t heard of - and he then mentioned that there were about 4 places in Shanghai to see the acrobatics. Seeing that we were paying top dollar we insisted that he get the tickets for Shanghai Centre who I had already discussed in our email booking!!

So get confirmation about where the performance will be held. The two Ellyse mentioned are the well known places - the others maybe dodgy but who knows.

They should be called the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe or Shanghai Circus World. If that is who they are then you could see them in CA and free yourself up to do something else at night whilst in Shanghai. Especially if it is cheaper - what a rip off!!!.

Yes the performance is unbelievable. .Do not miss it. Good comedy moments too.

Just forgot to mention that the two companies mentioned have the same brochure so assume they are jointly owned.
