Need advice on traveler's checks

I read somewhere that it is best to bring American Express traveler%26#39;s checks. My bank sells a Visa brand with their local bank name on them. Will the Bank of China accept them? Does anyone

have any experience with this?

I once accompanied 2 backpackers who had Amex and Visa TCs respectively to a Bank of China here in Shanghai to cash them in. Both were accepted of course, but the length of time required for Visa TCs was much longer -- the girl with the Visa TCs got to the counter much earlier but was still waiting for the clerk to finish the paperwork and etc after the girl with the Amex TCs had already gotten everything done.

kala-why in the world would you take traveler%26#39;s checks? There are ATM%26#39;s on mountain tops in china. put atm%26#39;s or traveler%26#39;s checks in the search thread and you will see that all the opinions on taking traveler%26#39;s checks, say don%26#39;t do it.
