Magnetic levitation train in Shanghai?

Do you all think it%26#39;s worth it to pay a little extra just to ride the magnetic levitation train to the Pudong airport?

Magnetic levitation train in Shanghai?

Personal preference would be to ride TO the airport instead of FROM the airport.

Not worth it if you%26#39;re going at a time when the maximum speed is only 300 km/h instead of 431 km/h though.

Magnetic levitation train in Shanghai?

It does take a couple of minutes to get up to the highest speed. Not as smooth as we thought it would be - it does jump around a bit.

Agree with Ellyse too much hassle entering the country - maybe OK if you are staying on the Pudong side. Believe the train will be extended one day. At present it isn%26#39;t that useful for tourists.

Saying that, we actually used the train like an attraction. We did a return trip on it just to experience it. I feel that it is worth doing - but only if you have time to spare.

Hmmm interesting to know these facts you point out. We were thinking of taking it to the airport at the end of our China trip. Disheartening to hear it is not too smooth though. If it%26#39;s really bumpy at those speeds, it could really throw you around. Is that true? Maybe not worth it then. I was just thinking of adding one last ';attraction'; before we left China.

No it won%26#39;t throw you around it just isn%26#39;t completely smooth on the corners. That was surprising - I am not being critical.

If you have the time to get from your hotel to the airport via the Maglev staion then I believe it is worth doing. The only problem is that you have to get to Longyang Road Station either by taxi or metro.

I have been on it several times and enjoy it. It can get a little bumpy but no worse than experiencing some holes in a road.

two of us travel together and its actually cheaper to go to airport by maglev than taxi.

taxi from Bund area or Shanghai centre will cost about 150Y but sub to Longyang station is 3/4Y and 50Y each to airport.

Early morning until about 8.30 and the last evening ones go at a slower rate 300Kms instead of 413Ks

I%26#39;ve taken it only once, didn%26#39;t feel any remarkable bumpiness though.

What time is your flight out of Pudong airport?

Sounds like it might be worth it. Thanks! Our flight leaves 3:40P.

In that case you would need to be at Pudong airport around 1340. You should aim to reach the Maglev station at Longyang Lu metro stop by around 1315 to allow for waiting time and such.

Ok, thanks. At least I won%26#39;t have to deal with rush hour during that time period, getting to maglev, etc.
