Guilin to Yangshou

I am heading to China in june and wish to travel Beijing - Shangai - Guilin and then onto Yunnan provence and then fly out of HK.

The only trouble im having finding info for is travel between Guilin and Yunnan. I would like to go to Yangshou.

Can anyone advise if it is possible to get a train between these destinations or reccommned an itinerary between Guangxi and Yunnan ?

Guilin to Yangshou

I would suggest a simple itinerary for getting from Guilin to Yunnan: fly there. You can get a direct Guilin-Kunming flight for about 970Y on www.elong.net, which will get you there in about an hour; any other way (such as by train) and you%26#39;re looking at spending an entire day and night traveling. If you really want to check into train schedules, you can put one together at http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-train.

Yangshou can be visited by a day trip or overnight from Guilin (or vice versa), and you can easily make travel arrangements once you%26#39;ve arrived in Guilin, though if you%26#39;re sure you want to overnight or stay in Yangshou, I%26#39;d reserve the hotel you want in advance.

Guilin to Yangshou

You could easily travel by bus, ferry or taxi from Guilin to Yangshuo (it%26#39;s spelt Yangshuo, not Yangshou). Take a look at http://www.yangers.com for more detailed and up-to-date information about Yangshuo, www.yangers.com/How_to_get_to_Yangshuo.htm is the transportation page. Email Alf the webmaster if you%26#39;re still confused after reading that page.

Depending on how much time you have, you might like to go from Yangshuo through the southeast part of Guizhou province and end at Kaili or Guiyang, then continue by train or plane to Kunming, bus is also available but I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it for such a long trip. This route would take you through relatively pristine minority areas of Guizhou, but the road and transport conditions are very bad and don%26#39;t expect anyone to speak English. If you think you could endure that for about 1.5-2 weeks then go ahead by all means.
