Fr Macau to Hong Kong

Hello,

I am planning to go to Hongkong by last week of April until first week of May. I am flying via tiger airways, so this means, I will be booked at Manila - Macau roundtrip. From Macau, how do I get to Hong Kong and how far is it? If you could also provide me how much the transportation is that will be great. Also, will I need a visa to enter Macau?

Please also advise what the weather most likely will be on those periods.

Katetam and Tin if you can read this, please help! Thanks!

Fr Macau to Hong Kong

The normal method is by ferry. There are three ferry companies operating and leaving very frequently. The fare are not so big different, around HKD 300 (return).

After you arrive Macau airport, you can take a taxi (may also have airport shuttle) to ferry pier. Macau is very small, it takes 15 minutes from airport to ferry pier. You don%26#39;t need to buy ticket in advance.

From Macau to Hong Kong only takes 1 hour.

I am not sure about the matter of visa but I think you may find this info from your government website.

End of April is already quite hot. I think you can wear as you are in Manila but remember to bring umbella because it is the rainy season.

Have a nice trip!

Also notice some ferries will go to the Kowloon side (Tsim Sha Tsui) and some go to the HK side (Sheung Wan), so better check which pier is closer to your hotel to save transportation fee in HK.

dear all, thank you so much for your very prompt and helpful advice! i have finally booked to arrive at May 26 and will stay there until May 30. I am a bit confused with how people explained the weather around that timeframe. it is hot and humid yet, rainy?

also, if the weather is like this when i arrive in Hong Kong, what would be the best things to do? I surely dont want to miss on my planned itinerary like HK Disneyland, Largest Buddha at Lantau Island, Avenue of Stars, Victoria Peak, Temple Street among others. Are these still a good itinerary considering the weather? Could you please give any advice on what to consider given the circumstances? Thank you so much !

Along the same line...would it make sense to fly Macau-BKK instead of HK-BKK if the fare is substantially cheaper? Will probably be staying in Kowloon, how much more time consuming or more expensive would it be to leave out of Macau instead of HK? There are 3 of us traveling so would like to save the money if it%26#39;s not too inconvenient or expensive. Thanks!

You may consider in this way:

Costs:

As I mentioned, Macau to Hong Kong by ferry costs HKD 300/person (return). From Macau airport to ferry pier, not sure, but should be not more than HKD 50. Divided by 3, it costs less than HKD 20/p. Return= HKD40/p.

Therefore, the total cost per person is around HKD 340. As been mentioned by tinnnnn, take a correct ferry to Kowloon or Hong Kong Island in order to save the cost.

From Hong Kong airport to city, HKD 40-50/p by bus and HKD 90/p (Kowloon) HKD 100/p (HK Island) by train.

Time consumption:

Macau airport to ferry pier: 15 min.

Waiting and immigration in pier: 30 - 45 min

Ferry from Macau to Kowloon / Hong Kong Island: 1 hr - 1hr 15 min.

Total: around 2 hr.

Hong Kong airport to city: 1/2 hr.

Exactly the info I was looking for - thx TKOHong Kong!!
