Hi, Macau looks great ..but a bit pricey re: accom and we are on a budget ! any contacts/ suggestions would be gratefully appreciated . Cheers !

We just returned from Asia with two nights in Macau. We stayed at the Guia Hotel and loved it. Following the advise of this website we asked for a 5th floor room with balcony and got it.

If you stay here you can easily walk up to the Guia light house which provideds 360 degree views of the area.

Pick up one of the little picture booklet travel guides provided by the Visitors Bureau, use this to direct taxis to where you want to go. Show them the picture of something near your destination. We had difficulty communicating until we figured this picture bit out.

Macau is really quite small and very walkable! Once you get your bearings, you might not need a taxi at all.
