Best time of year to travel to Hong Kong & China?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of planning a trip to China then a stopover in Hong Kong where I will meet up with my (ageing) mother for 10 days.

I have read a lot lately about the pollution and would prefer to travel at the %26#39;best%26#39; time of year when the air is cleanest. I was thinking that I would like to tour China in late March and visit Hong Kong in mid April, thinking that the air may be clearer in Spring and the gardens would be at their best - which would suit mum!

Your advice in this area would be appreciated.

Maxine

You didn%26#39;t mention which part of China.

Most likely it would be nice and cool in Beijing during March/April, but quite some rains in Shanghai and Hong Kong; on the other hand, pollution index should be lower after the rain.

I prefer October, but air quality would not be the best, and hotel rates are high.

Thank you Taipo,

I must admit that I am more concerned with the air quality in Hong Kong for the time that my mother will be there. As for China, I am looking at a 17 day tour covering Bejing to Shanghai via Xian %26amp; Guilin.

We can travel at any time of the year. Last time I was in Hong Kong was almost 30 years ago! I was there in early February and the weather was quite warm. I realise that I probably won%26#39;t find the %26#39;ideal%26#39; time but avoiding the rainy season %26amp; high pollution would be the best.

Would be better going later in April?

Many thanks,

Maxine

December-Feburary are the best time to visit Hong Kong due to Christmas and Lunar new Year period.

If you concern the pollution more, June-September are the best time to visit then as it has less pollution
