sleeperbus from Yangshuo to Shenzhen (Hongkong)

Hello,

greetings from Germany.

In June - July I am going to China with my two kids. We will visit Beijing, Shanghai, Huangshan, Yangtze, Yangshuo and Hongkong.

We will organize it by our own ( please excuse my bad english). So we have hundreds of questions: here is one:

- I have read in the forum about the sleeperbus from Shenzhen to Yangshuo!!

But is there also a sleeperbus in the other direction?

When will the bus leave Yangshuo - at what time will he arrive in Shenzhen?

What is the best way to get in to Hongkong? The ferry?Train?

I didn麓t find a homepage - so I hope you can give me an answer.

Really; it is more than one question.

Thanks a lot

Robert

you can take sleeper bus from yangshuo to shenzhen and it leaves for shenzhen at about 4-7 pm, and about 6 or 7 am get to shenzhen, it is hard to say the best way to get Hongkong, if you get to shenzhen by bus then you can by train to hongkong.

Hi robertolo,

belated happy new year from munich!

It%26#39;s very easy to go to Hongkong from Shenzhen. just take the train at the border crossing Lo Wu, take the KCR (Kowloon Canton Railway) east heading for Kowloon, take the MTR at Kowloon Tong for hongkong Island.

There is a sleeper bus which leaves Yangshuo for Shenzhen about 0930 pm which is the ideal time to allow you and your family to sleep for most of the trip arriving Shenzhen about 0900am. This bus arrives just across a nearbye walkway from the Lo Wu border crossing. Once across the border and through Hong Kong Immigration walk 50 metres to the station and catch a train to Hong Kong.

Here is a suggested 4 day itinery for Yangshuo which will be suitable if your kids are all over 8 or 9 years old

Day 1. Bike to Dragon River Bridge along the Yulong River and if the weather is warm stop for a swim or lunch on the banks of the river. The Dragon River Bridge is on of the oldest (500 years) and largest free standing stone arch bridges in China and it is worth seeing if only from the perspective of how did they do that. The near bye town of Baisha does not have much to interest a tourist but as an energy saving alternative to the river bank ride catch a local bus to Baisha hire bikes there and bike to the bridge have a swim and find a popular restaurant for lunch. That evening go to the San Lujie light and sound show which features a cast of more than 500 and is a bigger than big spectacular to say the least. Take a camera because the backdrop of Kaast hills under strong light makes for some wonderful and unique shots during the show. I believe that this show will give you a preview of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics because the man behind it has been commissioned to direct this.

Day 2 Get a local bus to Xing Ping if you are there with a date ending with 3, 6 or 9 visit the local markets for see how the country people trade goods for money(By the way most goods are cheaper to purchase in the village markets than you will find in Yangshuo) take a hour boat cruise to 9 horses mountain then hike to Yangdi along the Li River this stretch of river is regarded as the most scenic on the Li River and if you are hiking you can set your own pace stop to take photos when you see something of interest swim or splash during the river crossings. Night time watch the cormorant fishing display by the locals before dinner on West St

Day3 Get a bus or hire a private car to Langsheng then onto the Dragons Backbone rice terraces. The advantage of the private car is that you will be able to stop at any of the minority villages that interest you where as a bus will only stop at the scheduled stops. You should do a comparison but I believe with 4 passengers a car will not be much more expensive than 4 bus tickets and it will be a lot more convenient. The car or bus will take you to the gate to the Dong village of Ping an where you will start the 20 minute walk up to the rice terraces and a small restaurant where you can purchase meals or drinks before setting out on the real climb up to the terraces.

Day4 Bike ride to Moon Hill with stopovers at any of the several sites one of the best being the Dragon cave you pass on the way climb Moon Hill for a look at on of the best elevated viewing platforms in the area a light snack when you come down. If you are like me by this time you will be wondering how the water ladies (some seem well over 60) and try to sell you drinks can walk up and down with a pack of assorted drinks 2 or 3 times a day. If you would like a slide show of the Dragons Backbone Rice Terraces or any further information regarding the Yangshuo Guilin area please email me on pwintle00@hotmail.com

Hello,

thanks to all.

Great informations. I think it will be easy now to find our way in Yangshuo.

Thanks to Lucky Aussie, we sure will go to San Lujie Lights and look the show.

We also plan to make a trip to Longsheng, but we have read, that it is a long way from Yangshuo ( 3 hours for one way), so we think about the possibility to stay one night at Pingan.

There should be lots of Guesthouses there??We will keep our hotelroom at Yangshuo (made a reservation at morningsun hotel - very friendly guy there), and make one night at Pingan.

Thanks for all

Your informatiom about the length of the trip is correct and if when you are in Yangshou you go to the Green Lotus Restaurant , come out of the Morning Sun turn left, then left into West St and down about 100 metres on the left, the staff there will book the return bus to Shenzhen, the bus to Ping%26#39;an although with 3 or 4 people a private vehicle may be cheaper, and the guest house in Ping%26#39;an for the overnight stay. This is the place to do it if you do not wish to pay any addition comissions

If you want to look at a very good slideshow of the Ping%26#39;an area which will convince you that it is an area not to miss send me an email to pwintle00@hotmail.com
