I will arrive Friday night around 6 pm and have to leave by 1 pm Sunday to catch 5 pm flight out of Shanghai to Chicago. Have never been to Beijing other than airport. I want to see the Forbidden City (have a Starbucks coffee), walk the great wall and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe - as well as hit the markets for bargains. Need suggestions for hotel (wetern, location, location, location and reasonable $) sequence for the locations, schedule for the location, etc

I think the Starbucks at the Forbidden City has been thrown out -- not sure if it has already actually happened though.
Friday: arrive from airport, check-in to hotel, have a Peking duck dinner (or if you prefer, your Hard Rock Cafe instead), roam around Qianhai/Houhai hutong areas
Saturday: catch flag-raising ceremony at sunrise on Tiananmen Square, sightseeing in Forbidden City (finish by noon), hire a vehicle and driver to go to the Mutianyu Great Wall (leave the Wall after sunset), shopping at Wangfujing and Xidan
Sunday: go as early as possible to Panjiayuan market, then sightseeing at Temple of Heaven if you have spare time
