My son is departing Feb 17 and he%26#39;s nervous because he does not know where to go (he%26#39;s traveling alone).
Can someone give me a step-by-step instructions as to where he should go for check in and to obtain his boarding pass? And then where is he suppose to go after he gets his boarding pass? He is leaving on United Airlines. Thank you.

Beijing Airport is pretty much like any international airport.
However sometimes, things are done differently. For example, (sometimes) ALL departing passengers had to check in at ONE check in counter. Yes, confusion, frayed nerves, lots of shouting and q jumping. I hope that your son does not meet with this set up on the day of his departure.
As for checking in, boarding times and gates, he has to move with the flight departure information and the instructions and time printed on his boarding pass, I guess.
Also to be aware of the departure tax scam.

I found the Beijing airport a little confusing when leaving. You have to fill out a customs declaration form, and then go through customs before doing anything else. After going through customs, he can go directly to the United counter and get his boarding pass. After that he has to fill out a medical form (just declaring that he doesn%26#39;t have SARS) and then go through security. After that it%26#39;s straight to the terminal. Make sure he knows that he can%26#39;t bring liquids on the flight, unlike in America he can%26#39;t even buy them past security to bring on the plane.
